Football, Family and Friendship in Kick by Mitch Johnson

Budi's plan is simple...

He's going to be a star, instead of sweating over each football boot he makes, each stitch he sews, each box he packages. He's going to play for the greatest team on earth, rather than in the square behind the factory where he works.

But one unlucky kick brings Budi's world crashing down, because now he owes the Dragon, the most dangerous man in all Jakarta. Soon it isn't only Budi's dreams at stake, but his life.

A story about dreaming big, about hope and heroes, and never letting anything stand in your way...

Interview with Lianne Oelke, Author of Nice Try, Jane Sinner

Hello, friends! Today, I am here with an interview with the author of Nice Try, Jane Sinner, the one and only Lianne Oelke. It is safe to say that this is one of my most awaited novels of 2018, so, of course, I was pumped to have the chance of asking the author about her personal and professional life, as well as the book itself.

(Also, yes, Ruzi and I are still on a hiatus! However, this post was supposed to go up before that, but had to be delayed.)

Friday, January 12

Hello friends! Yes, you read that right, we are both going on a hiatus, which means that there will not be any posts going up for around two weeks. Well, I did an interview with the author of Nice Try, Jane Sinner, which I will get to you as soon as possible. I'm not sure when that might be, as there's been an issue that is completely out of my hands, unfortunately.

As for the hiatus itself - we are both genuinely sorry we have to take a break yet again, but we simply are not at the top of our shit as far as blogging goes. Ruzi is incredibly busy with family matters - nothing is wrong, though, don't worry! - while I've just finished my exams, and I'm so. damn. tired. We both need this break, but DO NOT WORRY, WE WILL BE BACK.

Actually, part of the reason why we are taking the time off is because we promised ourselves we'd come up with unique content that we are passionate about in 2018. So while we could throw together some posts last minute, we do not care for that right now.  There are lots of discussions going on "backstage", and we are full of new - and dare I say? - incredible ideas that we are very excited to share with you.

Bye for now - but worry not! We will be back better, stronger and with plans on how to avoid going on a hiatus again lol.

The Least Thrilling Thriller of Ever: IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE by Emily Koch (ARC review)

How Do You Solve Your Own Murder?

Everyone believes Alex is in a coma, unlikely to ever wake up. As his family debate withdrawing life support, and his friends talk about how his girlfriend Bea needs to move on, he can only listen.

But Alex soon begins to suspect that the accident that put him here wasn’t really an accident. Even worse, the perpetrator is still out there and Alex is not the only one in danger.

As he goes over a series of clues from his past, Alex must use his remaining senses to solve the mystery of who tried to kill him, and try to protect those he loves, before they decide to let him go.

Books I Totally Failed To Read in 2017, BUT WILL READ BY THE END OF 2018 FOR SURE

TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

If you're like me, you massively enjoy organizing your to-read pile. You know, create categories, like - first in a series, to read asap or review copies. You also probably enjoy making these cute little lists before a break, a reading challenge or new seasons, where you excitedly talk about the books you 'cannot wait to read' and that you are 'incredibly excited for', and promise that you will 'definitely pick them up' in the upcoming days/weeks/months. However, if you are really, truly like me, then you fail every single time. Miserably so.

Today's post is to recap ten of the books I most wanted to read in 2017... but did not manage to. *ashamed face* My goal is to at least read these by the end of 2018, if not sooner, although, knowing myself, even by 2020 would be a stretch. I WILL TRY, THOUGH, I SWEAR. I am full of determination, as I was every single time while making these types of lists, and I *will* do it. (Wish me luck??)

2018 Debut Novels I Am HYPED For

Hello, friends. I am SO PUMPED for today's post for two reasons: (1) it was super-fun to make it (I say this all the damn time, I know, but I mean it now, truly), (2) I found SO MANY fantastic-sounding books while "researching" for this post, and I cannot wait to share them all with you.

My experience is that debut novels receive considerably less hype than, well... non-debuts,  and so I'll try to make it my MISSION in 2018 to share with you as many debuts as possible, either by reading them & writing reviews or just featuring them in posts. Having a successful debut novel can REALLY make or break an author's career, so do try to support those debuts that you are interested in.

In this post, I have nearly 30 titles listed by genre, along with their blurbs and my thoughts on them, and I TRULY HOPE YOU'LL LIKE IT. On a side note - 2018's book cover game is already so strong and (obviously) not even all the covers have been released!? I AM EXCITED.

17 Fantastic Authors I Discovered in 2017

Hello, friends! I am happy to say that after taking a few weeks off from Top Ten Tuesday (a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish), I am back with a new, totally awesome list for your enjoyment. I was very satisfied when I saw today's topic, because 2017 was the year when I discovered SO MANY new-to-me authors, and also read quite a few awesome debuts. So, of course, I ended up sharing way more than 10 authors - 17, to be exact - but I feel like those of y'all who are regulars here aren't even surprised I'm cheating with the number. I always do, to be honest.
