July Wrap-Up and Upcoming Reviews

It’s monthly wrap-up time again, summer flies by so fast, don't you agree? Just a few hours from now on and it will be August. Horrible. With school coming I will have less time to read, blog and honestly I'll be far less enthusiastic. Whatever, summer's still here and I can still read as much I want to (happy sigh).

Unfortunately I was in a reading slump and now I'm in a blogging slump which is kind of worse because I feel like I let you down by posting less reviews than the books I read. I promise that I will catch up on everything and will review every single book I have recently read.

Okay, now let's get started with the books I've read and reviewed shall we? :)

Marissa Meyer - Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3)

“But you're a prisoner," said Thorne.
"I prefer damsel in distress," she murmured.

In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Countdown Survey

I’ve recently found this survey and after realizing that even if I had wanted to I haven't done any surveys, yet I chose to start it ASAP. Basically Christy at Christy's Book Addiction started this survey by counting down from ten to one. There's a topic to each number, our task is to name as many things in each topic as the number of that topic. Easy and fun, right?

Don't forget to link in your survey at Christy's blog if you choose to do it this.

PS: I'd love to see your surveys too so you can link it up in the comments if want to. :)

Marissa Meyer - Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2)

Laura Roppé - Heart Shaped Rock

"Tiff, I couldn't have dreamt up a more perfect guy. He's smart and funny and, oh my God, so talented. And he's sweet, too..." I sigh, remembering how he reached across the table and touched my hand. "And totally, ridiculously, insanely gorgeous."

Sometimes a shattered heart needs to sing to love again. . .

Sixteen year old singer-songwriter Shaynee Sullivan hasn't so much as touched her guitar since her mom died six months ago. But when she meets a gorgeous and surprising rocker named Dean, her shattered heart begins to mend . . . and then burst at the seams. Heart-wrenching, heart-warming, and sometimes even heart-racing, Heart Shaped Rock will leave you laughing through tears and rooting for love in all its forms.

I received a digital copy in exchange of an honest review.

Laini Taylor - Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3)

We are the beginning. We always have been. This time, let it be more than a beginning.

By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz.
Common enemy, common cause.
When Jael's brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people.
And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love.
But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz ... something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world.
What power can bruise the sky?
From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of? And does anything else matter?

Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.
