πŸŽƒ The R.I.P It or Ship It Book Tag- With a Twist! πŸŽƒ

Hello, you lovely, lovely pumpkins! For our joint post for Spooky October, Vera and I put our heads together and had a very long think and ultimately zeroed in on the RIP It or Ship It Book Tag created by emmabooks...but since we are obviously very creative and quite genius, we decided to give it a twist this time, unlike the last time we did this tag, and so, in honor of all things spooky, we are doing this tag with some of the most meanest characters ever in the history of YA literature!

For those of you who already know this- please bear with us as we go through what happens briefly, and for those of you who know head nor tail of this tag, here's what it's all about! First you put a bunch of character names in a bowl/ jar/ whatever- both male and female- and then you pull out two names. Next you make your decision about the pair- whether you R.I.P it or ship it. Simple, huh?

So Vera and I chose 10-10 male and female villains names and drew out couples for each other to make the very torturous decision of whether we'd ship them together or not. And so, without further ado, let's do this!

ROUND ONE:

Santano Enrique (Psy-Changeling) & Bellatrix Lestrange (Harry Potter)

Veronika: To be honest, I can totally see this pairing work out. I don't want to go into details concerning Santano Enrique's crimes, because SPOILERS, but he sure as hell was a sadistic piece of cake that even Bellatrix Lestrange could learn from, which is to say something. I'll go with SHIP IT, simply because both of them were utterly disgusting people who enjoyed watching others suffer. They weren't particularly known for working with a partner, but it seems possible, given that I feel like they were proud of the things they'd done and sharing that with a partner - love interest? ugh - would sweeten these memories even more. Disturbing much? Nah.

Piper Greenmantle (The Raven Cycle) & the Couch (Dare Me)

Ruzaika: At first sight, it does seem like they might work out together..but quite honestly, Piper might be just too much of a match for the Coach. While the latter had her faults, she wasn't innately evil? And she ended up being the way she was because of various personal issues, so pairing her with Piper would only make things worse for her and however horrible she was, she can't deal with that I'm sure. They'd make a lacklustre pair together and so I say, RIP IT!!!!

ROUND TWO:

Luke Castellan (Percy Jackson) & Malek (Exquisite Captive)

Ruzaika: Hmmmmmmmmmm. This needs to be well-thought out. Ship it, I guess? Yes, SHIP IT. Luke could do with some of Malek's "eccentricities" I'm sure, and it would do him good to be kept under Malek's thumb for some time. Malek on the other hand deserves someone like Luke, so I can foresee that they'd challenge each other quite well and they would make for a very (un)healthy couple indeed.

Blake (Lux) & Valentine (The Mortal Instruments)

Veronika: At first, I screamed RIP IT, and I do stand by that opinion, because they aren't couple material, in my opinion (the age difference for one, yuck). But they're actually quite similar, so they could be the best freaking dad-son villain duo ever, and by that I mean the sickest. Valentine has this weird obsession with Jocelyn, Clary's (MC) mother, and can't seem to let it go, even though Jocelyn clearly despises him. Blake is the same way with Katy - he's not only trying to get together with her, but 1000% crosses into stalker territory and doesn't understand AT ALL that Katy doesn't want anything to do with him. Also, both these guys do terrible stuff to their 'beloveds', and think nothing of it... Has there ever been two more similar villains?

ROUND THREE:

Violet (The Walls Around Us) & Kavinsky (The Raven Cycle)

Veronika: Violet and Kavinsky.... SO HARD to decide - I'm going to go with RIP IT. Yes, both of them were bad people, but in different ways?? IDK, hard to reason why they don't make sense in my head when both of them were incredibly self-centered and rotten to the core. Here's a reason - Violet would never ever ever be with Kavinsky, because she has a perfectly crafted image that the world can see and he doesn't fit into it in any way.

Voldemort (Harry Potter) & President Snow (The Hunger Games)

Ruzaika: WHAT AN INTIMIDATING PAIR OMG. I can totally see them together and ruling the world... In other words, destroying what's left of peace on earth, and for that reason alone, I'd say no. We have enough people intent on world destruction at the moment, sorry. I can't make myself ship them together knowing how well they'd "understand" each other. But well, they do deserve to be together though- they'd probably end up killing each other. What fun! Final verdict: SHIP IT, because they are somehow killing each other themselves in the end.

ROUND FOUR:

Paul Slater (Mediator) & Alison DiLaurentis (PLL)

Ruzaika: Oooooh SHIP IT. They so totally deserve each other. I'm sure they will strive hard towards one upping each other, so they would be so invested in themselves that they'd forget to be horrible towards other innocent people. Also, Paul sure deserves someone crafty and cunning like Alison! Ship it, ship it, ship it.

The Lord Ruler (Mistborn) and President Snow (The Hunger Games)

Veronika: I think this might be the toughest decision I've had to make IN WEEKS - which tells you way too much about how action-packed my life is, to be honest. I'm going to say RIP IT - they have some similarities, but they do differ a lot. I think the Lord Ruler actually believed he was doing the best he could, while Snow did tons of stuff for his own entertainment only. I could be wrong, though. *shrugs*

ROUND FIVE:

Levana (Lunar Chronicles) & Queen Elara (Red Queen)

Veronika: Both these queens are ruthless and hungry for power, while neither of them cares about their people's well-being. Despite these lovely similarities, I'll have to say - RIP IT. Levana is one of those people who wants ALL the power, she definitely wouldn't like to share with anyone. Elara, on the other hand, does love her son, and would give up the power so he could rule.

Amy Dunne (Gone Girl) & Levana (Lunar Chronicles)

Ruzaika: They sound so GOOD together. both perfectly crazy in their own ways, I do so love a couple that would bring out their best (worst on this case hahaHA) in each other and these two surely would. SHIP IT, just because I'd love to read about them wreaking havoc together.

Well, so that's it! We tried our best to think through this and make proper, proper decisions, but we might have missed out on quite a few characteristics of these characters and ended up making the wrong decision- oh, my!

  1. OMG can you imagine Voldemort and Snow together??? The world would end as we know it! Although perhaps that would mean that Harry and Katniss would join together to defeat them, which wouldn't be so bad. Happy Halloween!
