Bookstopper Outfits: The Darkest Minds

Hello everyone! Today, I'm here with my second Bookstopper Outfit, this time for The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. Hope you'll enjoy. :)

Bookstopper Outfits: The Darkest Minds

I really wanted to choose something badass for The Darkest Minds - because Ruby is super cool and strong - this is why I went with this leather pencil skirt and those kickass ankle boots. I knew that I needed to include orange/yellow - preferably the same shade as seen on the cover - so I added that simple crop top with the black necklace and earrings that make it more interesting. Finally, I included this blazer with just a touch of leather in it that's a perfect match for the skirt and hides the shine of the top. I really needed to somehow shade that bright color because I felt like it didn't exactly fit the novel's overall atmosphere.

On a final note, The Darkest Minds is one of the best dystopian books I've ever read and  I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the genre, maybe even to those who are tired of the same dystopian stories again and again.

Hope you enjoyed! Tell me, what would you do differently?

When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.

  2. Love the outfit! It definitely fits the book - the pop of yellow perfectly represents the sliver of happiness that Ruby finds in a dark world.
